Bargraph shows 246 candidates less that 1.25 x Earth size; 676 in the range 1.25 to 2 x Earth size (Super-Earths); 1,118 in the range 2 to 6 x Earth size; 210 in the 6 to 15 x Earth size (Jupiter class); and 71 larger that 15 x Earth size (Super-Jupiters)
2012 Feb 27 Kepler Planet Candidate Bar Graph
02/27/2012

A bar graph summarizing statistics in the 2012 February 27 Kepler Planet Candidates catalog release -- 246 candidates less that 1.25 x Earth size; 676 in the range 1.25 to 2 x Earth size (Super-Earths); 1,118 in the range 2 to 6 x Earth size (Neptune-class); 210 in the 6 to 15 x Earth size (Jupiter-class); and 71 larger that 15 x Earth size (Super-Jupiters).

See also 2012 March 7 Presentation slides pertinent to the public release of candidate planets of Feb 2012. Includes graphs, scatter plots, bar graphs and Kepler field of view depictions of the distributions of candidate planets with various sizes and orbital periods:

  • numbers of planet of various sizes as of Feb 27, 2012 release
  • Field-of-view series (3): June 2010 release; Feb 2011 release; Feb 2012 release
  • Scatter plots (3): planet candidates as of Feb 2012 by radius & orbital period; candidates in HZ (equilibrium temperature); & zoom of candidates in HZ (equilibrium temperature)
